The Camargue is one of the few places in Europe where semi-wild horses still move in natural herds and open landscapes. I work with local gardians and breeders. They know their horses, so you get close at sunrise and sunset without pressuring the animals. Suited to photographers who know their camera well, from keen amateurs to professionals. I help you on site.
Sessions run from March to the end of June and from August to the end of October, with limited places.
Three sessions
Marsh, Beach, Stallions
Horses in the marsh
Shallow marshland. Two to three experienced gardians guide the horses through natural movement while you work with the light on the water.
Horses at the beach
On a wild stretch of coast in early morning or evening light. Movement along the shoreline and through shallow water, near Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer.
Stallions at the beach
Stallions interacting on the coast: authentic behaviour and hierarchy.
Included
- Exclusive access to selected herds and locations

Equipment
- Recommended lenses: 70–200 mm, 100–400 mm or similar
- A wide-angle 24–70 mm is useful for environmental shots
- Bring your own knee-high rubber boots. Waders available on request for a €5 rental fee.
- No tripod needed
Dates
Book a horse shoot
Single shoots at sunrise and sunset from 250 €, and multi-day programmes.
Horse shoots are for photographers only. A spectator pays the full photographer rate, unless you need them with you for health reasons (please tell me when you book).
